The never-ending NX35 track-by-track: Week 2

26 Feb

So here’s the deal: we’ve been fairly light on the NX35 coverage due mainly to, well, some “involvement” with the festival. In an effort to provide some level of “countdown” coverage, we are going to go through 20 tracks from 20 bands at a time every Friday until the weekend of the conferette. (For those of you who are a little slow, there are three weeks left until NX35, which means we will be sharing 60 tracks with you.) Let’s hope this helps all of you have a better understanding of the music that is quickly approaching. If you like any of the bands, check out when/where they’re playing and possibly find out more info at NX35.com.

Note: This week the newest addition to the DBB staff, Nina Chantanapumma (aka The Neener), joins in on the fun.

Rundown: 1/4-1/10

4 Jan

Consider this a note to aging artists: we don’t want you back. Yeah, you can get back together ,tour and get your core fanbase (average age 42) out in droves, along with a younger generation of fans who, instead of finding music they might like, decided instead to piggyback on the taste of their older siblings and corporate radio. Then again, who cares. You’re gonna make a ton of cash by doing this and that’s all that matters, so “Knights of the Soundtable”, welcome back to mediocrity.

Few things going on this week, including an insane show we’re putting on at RGRS for free. Check it out after the jump.

Resurrection at Panhandle House — TONIGHT!

23 Oct

By Melissa Crowe

a) Crushers are dangerously cheap.
b) It would have been at least a year ago.

The new renters have said they’re staking their claim tonight at 9 p.m. and Human Groove Hormone, Lazy Native, Babar, and Dear, Human are on the set list.

I sat down with Dear, Human a few weeks ago to discuss the band’s start and trying to find a downbeat to dance to. (Try it, I dare you.)

Anyway – The conversation is after the jump. Continue reading
