THIS INTERACTIVE MAP OF METAL HAS BEEN SWEEPING THE INTERNET AS METAL FANS AND FANS OF GENERAL AWESOMENESS HAVE BEEN FLOCKING TO IT. CHECK IT OUT HERE.

On the heels of last nights Grammy win for Best Album, Canada’s current toast of the music world were celebrated for their win by none other than Captain Outburst Kanye West himself, along with many other congratulatory tweets and blog post. Unfortunately not all mentions of the band were filled with praise as jilted GAGA and M&M fans took to twitter to voice their disgust for a band they’ve never even heard of. Luckily for us some bright person decided to catalogue these responses on tumblr and now we have the wonder that is Who is Arcade Fire? Check out some selections below.
This gentleman would like you to know that if you’ve never heard of them, they must suck.
Dog the Bounty Hunter!

This is….this is just fantastic.
Somewhere in The Woodlands a group of high school kids are planning on renaming their band The Suburbs as a way to capitalize on all this.
Of course this doesn’t hold a candle to the Beiber Nation’s outrage of Esparanza Spalding, but that’s a whole nother post.

It’s a little known fact that here in the virtual offices of DBB we catch ourselves breaking out into songs from a musical, or discussing how evil Glee really is and we swear that’s all true, and if you don’t believe us we fully understand, but if you do believe us we ask that you join us on the Wicked as an animated feature bandwagon.
It seems the internet has slowly come abuzz with a storyboard video done by Californian artist Heidi Gilbert which she posted on her blog along with an open letter to the musical’s creator Stephen Schwartz, check them both out below.
Dear Stephen Schwartz,
I know you can relate to the plight of loving a story, loving a medium, and trying to convince someone in power to see your vision! You did it with Marc Platt when you convinced him to make it a stage musical. I’m just approaching you with the same sincerity. Is it possible to talk you out of doing a live action movie adaptation? Would you consider doing a traditionally animated adaptation? In my heart I think the musical needs the medium, and I think the medium needs your musical. I just love them both so much and hopefully that shows through in the story reel.Sincerely,
Heidi Jo GilbertHere’s the video.

College Humor has a pretty great video/series covering Superhero Hipsters, so gather your Batman Comics and your Decemberist records and flaunt them together.

Fishboy (aka Eric Michener & Co.) has long been one of my favorite local acts. Michener’s childlike, simplistic songs deceptively distract from his incredible talent and the talent of the other musicians in his band. That simplicity also masks the elaborate back stories, often explained in greater detail in the accompanying comic books that Michener creates.
It’s been almost two years since the release of Fishboy’s last album, NOM. But in April we will get a new Fishboy offering, Classic Creeps. You can stream Side A of the record right now from Fishboy’s blog and tomorrow you can find out how to pre-order it.
Classic Creeps is everything you’d expect from Fishboy, in a good way.

Earlier this evening, news of Wilco’s new record label, dBpm hit Pop & Hiss (click link for full story), the LA Times’ music blog. The label has been in the works for years, according to Jeff Tweedy.
The story was picked up by Consequences of Sound (and subsequently local blog DBFmusic), who added tour dates for Wilco’s summer tour as well as Tweedy’s spring solo tour. Among the dates is a May 5 appearance by the band at the University of North Texas Auditorium.
It thrills me that one of my favorite bands will play at my alma mater in a town where I luckily still call home. Needless to say, these tickets will go quickly once they go on sale.

We urge you to all take a few minutes and visit The Root and take in their rather amazing MLK Day Playlist. Remember: the world we live in was drastically different not 50 years ago. Try to remember what came before you.

Just came across this over on the AV Club, but it seems Tom Hanks’ non “Good Guy” kid is a “MC” (term used very lightly) who likes to let everyone know that he “hits the blunt after hittin the books” and other faux “street” things. Also, it seems he’s taking all this new media scrutiny well if this quote can be believed
Chet Haze Have a good time, smile back.. Cuz everybody in this bitch is a wildcat!
This is what happens when you decide to star in The Polar Express, your kid goes on to try his damnedest to embarrass you.
Anyway, take a look at Chet’s track here, his twitter here, and of course his Facebook.
